21–22 March 2014

CONGRESS AT THE HAUS DER
KULTUREN DER WELT, BERLIN

Opening 21 March, 3 pm

How does the production, evaluation, and reception of literature change within digital knowledge society? What does authorship mean? What new business models emerge? Do reading practices change in the way archival practices are changing?

Featuring lectures, discussions, and readings, the two-day program of the conference “Literatur digital” will examine these as well as related questions from an interdisciplinary perspective. Taking copyright law as a starting point, from the Roman Empire onwards to today, various positions from legal, social, cultural and media studies, as well as anthropology and philosophy, will discuss the implications such transformations have for artistic and applied processes. Authors, publishers, and readers will explore questions on the future of literature. Fiktion will also present a preview of its first literary program.

The congress program has been developed by Katharina de la Durantaye (Humboldt University Berlin), Mathias Gatza and Ingo Niermann (Fiktion) with the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
